UCI Health Facilities

SGH evaluated the existing healthcare buildings in context with the University of California Seismic Safety Policy (UC Policy) and the Alquist Hospital Seismic Safety Act (AHSSA). Highlights of our work include:

• Collaborating with UCI Health to determine which buildings provide general acute care and must meet the California Department of Health Care Access and Information requirements and those buildings that provide administrative, ambulatory, or clinical services and fall under the purview of the University of California, Office of the President (UCOP)
• Reviewing drawings and reports and visiting the facilities to confirm the existing structural and lateral-load-resisting systems generally match the available drawings
• Developing and executing exploratory investigation programs to identify key structural elements when no drawings were available
• Performing analyses of the buildings utilizing the FEMA P-154 methodology and the ASCE 41-17 Tier 1 and 2 methodologies
• Identifying potential engineering and construction work associated with bringing the buildings into compliance with the UC Policy
• Providing UCI Health with an opinion of probable construction costs to achieve jurisdictional compliance
• Developing reports for each building for UCI Health to submit to UCOP
• Helping UCI Health understand compliance policy schedule requirements and providing input regarding compliance strategies
