Longfellow Place 1 and 4

SGH conducted a condition assessment of the two towers. We used a swing stage to access the towers and performed the following tasks:

• Document approximate location and extent of delaminated and spalled concrete
• Examine the condition of steel reinforcement, balcony railing attachments, and existing sealant joints
• Gather information regarding the thickness of the concrete cover over reinforcement and corrosion activity
• Select locations to extract concrete cores
• We conducted petrographic analysis and chloride content tests on concrete core samples in our in-house laboratory.

SGH identified and analyzed alternatives to remedial work intended to repair existing deterioration, control leakage, and extend the useful life of the facades. We estimated the cost of remedial work alternatives and identified advantages and disadvantages. Following the owner’s approval, SGH prepared construction documents and oversaw the repair phase.
